24 COBB LIFE | JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2019 N E W S & N O T E W O R T H Y CL RED EYED MULE LOOKING FOR A NEW MARIETTA HOME The Red Eyed Mule in Marietta is looking for a new home. "We will be looking for a new stable effective December 31," restaurant owners Sabra Wessel and Joseph Wood announced via the restaurant's Facebook page in late Novem- ber. "We always have said we will keep the Mule in Marietta as long as possible because Marietta is a big part of the heart and soul of the Red Eyed Mule." The Red Eyed Mule, located on Church Street Extension just off Cobb Parkway near the Canton Road connector, has been open at that location for nearly 10 years, according to the Facebook post. The restaurant's landlord, who also owns the Come-N-Get It restaurant next door, is not renewing Red Eyed Mule's lease. "Please help us Marietta, there have been too many special moments happen within that tiny brick building. … Save The Mule Marietta!" the Facebook post reads. The small red building near Cobb EMC hosts a popular breakfast but is also known for its burgers. Food Network star and Marietta resident Alton Brown named the Mule's Jake's Sloppy Slaw Burger his "favorite sloppy thing to eat." Brown has also said that the burger is his go-to Altanta burger and his name and com- ments are displayed in the restaurant.
