JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2019 | COBB LIFE 61 C O B B S C E N E CL ABOVE: Atlanta United and Georgia Organics recently partnered with Park Street Elementary to show the students the importance of farming fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Marietta City Schools (MCS) was selected as a 2018 Gold Level Golden Radish Award recipient and was recognized during the month of October at the Georgia Freight Depot. The Golden Radish Award salutes Georgia school districts for best practices in farm to school programs, such as local food procurement, exposing students to new foods through taste tests, incorporating gardening, and cooking activities in the curriculum. ABOVE: Walton High School Athletic Secretary Tammy Feilmeier's mother-in-law, Barb Feilmeier, was in town for Thanksgiving and the duo made a gingerbread house of The Big Chicken (prior to its renovation). "My mother in law has been making gingerbread houses for 48 years and hers are amazing and I feel honored that she wants to teach me how to make them," Tammy said.
