2018 EDITION 115 INVITATION This principal piece of the suite is often the largest in size. It includes the most pertinent information (i.e. the bride and groom, host parents, wedding date, time, and location). Bethany suggests sending invitations four to six weeks in advance and even earlier for destination weddings or those that align with holidays. REPLY CARD These are used to collect RSVPs. Include a "reply by" date, usually three to four weeks prior to your wedding date. OUTER ENVELOPE This piece, which can have square or pointed flaps, encloses all the components. Bethany recommends Instagrammers order extra suites so they have something pristine to post. The Suite Life Asheville letter artist Bethany Thames of Joy Unscripted lays out the ABCs of a proper wedding invitation suite REPLY ENVELOPE Pre-address and pre- stamp these to help guests RSVP easily. ENCLOSURE CARD Also known as the details card, this catchall includes other relevant information regarding the Big Day, like directions, accommodation information, registry locations, and wedding website addresses. Have more to tell guests than one side of the card allows? Print information on the front and back. Joy Unscripted (828/782-3182, JoyUnscripted.com) Bethany is a Jill of all trades—she creates custom invitations (like this suite), calligraphs envelopes, pens wedding signage, and even makes specialized aisle runners upon request. The first piece of information she requests from a bride is their wedding date. From there, she creates an individual timeline detailing important deadlines. Bethany's envelope calligraphy ranges from $1.50 to $4 per piece. The bride's name should always appear ahead of the groom's name on the invitation. Same-sex couples can take turns on who appears first on save-the- dates, invitations, and ceremony programs. Host parents are usually listed male- female and are typically the bride's parents and/or stepparents. P H O T O G R A P H B Y N A T A L I E M O R E A U
