The two met at a bar in 2011 and later, thanks to an unintended pocket dial from Kate, went out on a date. "I knew he was a keeper when he let me eat the shrimp and grits right off his plate," she says of that first outing. Four years later, the Charlotte, North Carolina, natives found themselves celebrating Chad's graduation from business school by jet- setting to Thailand. After a few days of sightseeing, Chad served up two surprises: first, a traditional Thai cooking class in the outskirts of Chiang Mai and second, a romantic proposal. (The two were so excited they called their families at 4 a.m. E.S.T. to share the news.) With the help of Shay Brown from Shay Brown Events, their wedding weekend in western North Carolina was a jam-packed three-day celebration starting with a Thursday Lowcountry boil, a Friday rafting trip, and a Saturday alfresco ceremony. After swapping "I do's," and posing for newlywed portraits amid the venue's pack of llamas, they joined guests to party it up inside a reception tent dressed to the nines in greenery and gold and awash in candlelight.
